	James Hampton represents the situation most analogous
to the VMs that I've found.  Hampton was a black
American "outsider artist".  He built the magnificent
Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations Millennium
General Assembly now on display at the Smithsonian.  He
also kept a journal in an unprecedented and
undeciphered script.
