Re: VMS Symbols

A large number of alchemical symbols may be found in THE LURE AND ROMANCE OF 
ALCHEMY by Charles John Sammuel THOMPSON (originally published by G.G.HARRAP 
in 1932, but reprinted several times).  ISBN 0-517-02634-1.  It is a 
wonderful book, entertaining, informative and richly researched (although 
sadly lacking in references).  There are a few notes about Roger Bacon, and 
a few pages devoted to Emperor Rudolph II (in which some of his alchemical 
follies are detailed, including a description of his elaborate 
laboratories).

I personally cannot see many similarities between the symbols recently 
posted, or in the above book, with those of the VMS, but the study of the 
function of these symbols does seem pertinent.
