The VMs = Necronomicon theory is by far the favorite
theory of folks who are not on this list.
You might want to look on Richard Shand's site:

He has a Mysterious Manuscripts section; the VMs is
there, and also the Necronomicon . He does very good
work, and if there is anything beyond Lovecraft's
stories, he would say.
You'll have to pay 10 US$ to sign up, but it's well
worth it.
