Jakob Bartsch and Georgius Baresch/Bartsch/Barschius could not be one and
the same. The first was born in 1599/1600 and died in 1632/1633, according
to http://www.astro.uni-bonn.de/~pbrosche/persons/pers-index.html. The
second attended Universitate Sapientiae Romanae (University 'La Sapienza')
in Rome in 1605 and wrote a letter to Athanasius Kircher in 1637 and another
in 1639, according to http://www.voynich.nu/letters.html.

The previous reference to 'uterus' and Kepler seems to be the location in
the sky where a new star had been found at 4BC, although others say that it
should have occurred at 2BC
(http://home.t-online.de/home/Dr.Papke/messiah.htm: "The enigma of the Star
of Bethlehem has now been solved. Latest research reveals it was a new star
that suddenly appeared at the 'Throne of God' in the very womb of the
ancient Babylonian constellation of the Virgin (ERUA) at 6:30 p.m. just
after sunset on August 30 in 2 B.C." ... etc.

Sources to look for info:

-- Kepler's museum: http://www.kepler-museum.de (all details about Kepler's
assistant Bartsch, including residence and his family?)

-- Universitate Sapientiae Romanae http://??? (list of alumni 1600 to 1610?)

Cheers,

Claudio
