I should say: all of this doesn't exclude the possibility of it being an 
invented language: rather, if it is an invented language, this points to 
its alphabet having been designed with the express purpose of *obfuscation*.

And if it is an invented language that's also intentionally obfuscated... 
we don't stand a chance. :-)
