One of his ideas is that the VMS could be a syllabic/phonic form of one of 
the many languages that existed in Mexico, probably dates from the 1530s, 
and namechecks Martin de la Cruz as a possible source: but this really 
doesn't do credit to the breadth of research he's put in.
