Thank you; I'm sure there are lots of people who think exactly the
same as you.

The basic scanning is rather pricey.   Until we get a formal
offer from the scanning vendor we don't know exactly what it
will cost, but I think it will come in at about $13,000, the bulk
of which will be paid by the wealthy donor.  So a  few thousand
dollars might need to be raised by the rest of us, which I don't
see as being very hard given the level of interest in the group.

When we do get a formal offer I think things will happen rather
fast.  A non-interest-bearing bank account will be set up to
receive donations, an estimate of the amount of money needed
will be calculated.  And then we will start thinking about the cheapest
way to share the bits & pixels with everyone.
