  By the Middle Ages in Europe, the symbolism of the unicorn became
  shrouded in mystery. It was not widely recognized or listed in
  European star atlases until 1624 by German mathematician
  Jakob BARSCHIUS.

That is the only instance of "Barschius" known to Google,
other than those in the usual VMs sites.  

Was this one known before? Where can we find more about this man?
