Lecture on Medicine and Astrology...

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that, on 1pm on Tuesday 12th February 2002, The Cambridge University Department of History and Philosophy of Science will be hosting a one-hour talk by David Juste (Warburg Institute, University of London), on "Medical Astrology in the Early Middle Ages".

This is part of a set of open seminars on "Early Medicine and Natural Philosophy: Medicine and Magic", held in Seminar Room 1, Department of History and Philosophy of Science, Free School Lane, Cambridge.

The organisers are Lauren Kassell (ltk21@xxxxxxxxx) and Sophie Page (slp12@xxxxxxxxx). Note that Lauren Kassell has been studying the "Book of Dunstan" for some years... more on that as it happens. :-)

I'll be going along to find out more (I hope) about the rise (and fall) of astrological medical determinism... I suspect this will prove to be a cornerstone of the VMS (but we shall see, of course). :-)

Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
