VMs: My VMS research plan (1)

I threaten to drown in all the available Voynich-data so I have set
myself a simple task that looks finite, doable and (I hope) useful. If
I'm wrong I'll be gladly corrected.

Task:
Make an annotated "atlas" of the large 3*3 foldout page that is
reproduced in Kraus. (f85v2, f86r4, f86r6, f85v1, f86r3, f86r5)

This means:
1) Write an objective description of what is to be seen on the page.
2) Make a list of the most interesting features on this page.
3) Try to gather as many reproductions of these features as possible.
4) Scan the mail-archive (and available Voynich literature) for the
discussions of these features.
5) Try to locate as many parallels as can be found in non-Voynich
sources.

My best art books always have a detailed description of "what do you see
in the painting". With such a description you tend to look better and to
see more.

Most features have been discussed several times on the list since they
contain pointers to the age and geography of the manuscript: the castles,
the spire, the "clock". But there are also "suns", abysses and a
"volcano". I think no one knows at the moment how long the list is.

Ad 3 )

I made a - rather overexposed - scan of the Kraus page. www.baconbooks.net
has a very nice original Voynich photograph. There may be many more.

Ad 4 )

The castles have been discussed and located extensively. But there must
be much more in the archive.
The foldout is not discussed in Brumbaugh. I have ordered a copy of
d'Imperio but it has not arrived yet.

Ad 5 )

I have seen - while not even searching - interesting parallels to the
"castles" ad to the "abysses". And many parallel avenues have not been
explored yet - for example: the foldout is full of "decorative"
repetitive elements. These might be compared with other repetitive
decorations on - for example - old majolica pottery. And the strange
"organ pipe" is nothing that I've seen before.

Reactions to this plan are welcome.
