Ahem, I "discovered" Jakob Barschius too last year(?), but that trail
eventually became another dead end. However, IRC, we found that the
Barschius surname seems to have originated a definite area near the
Poland/Germany border (the homeland of Jakob), and it probably comes
from a river. Check the extensive discussion in the mailing list
archives.
