BTW: Have read a lot but nothing that is directly useful for the list.
Reading a booklet on the meaning of Van Eyck's - "The Lamb of God"
altarpiece in Ghent I realize more and more how much additional knowledge is
necessary to interpret an old artwork. And I realize what a tumultuous time
1400 - 1500 was, 3 popes, hussite revolts, rise of the middle class,
printing press etc. And in that time someone was quitely writing away at
this strange manuscript ...
