Hi Greg,

While a some kind of invocation to Mary is indeed a possibility, would not
a dedication, particularly one intended to protect the author from
theauthorities in the event of a charge of witchcraft, be more prominent
and obvious? My inpression of this text is more of a "note to self",
either by the author or a would-be decipherer.

Just to point out that the nymph (and the aardvark?) in the left margin would appear to support Philip's contention of it's being a quill-testing page.


Though I'm sticking to my Third Way for now, because of all those crosses. :-)

Hmmm... the balneological nymphs aside, there are few obvious marginalia in the VMS, though the "dying nymph" at the bottom of f66r does spring to mind - the text in the corner there also looks somewhat like the "michiton" hand.

Perhaps Michitonese is the official language of Voynich marginalia? :-)
