VMs: Re: Red Book of Herg - illustrations?
I had never heard of the physicians of Myddfai, but
the Red Book of Hergest is a tremendously well known
manuscript since it contains one of only two complete
texts of the Welsh classic the Mabinogion.
It has also been completely digitised (kudos to the
Oxford University libraries) and can be seen
on the web at
http://image.ox.ac.uk/show?collection=jesus&manuscript=ms111
The manuscript is not illustrated, and the size of the
files offered for download is not for the faint hearted:
it is nonetheless a very important book. I imagine the
Welsh text has been printed somewhere but I doubt if there
is a translation of the non-literary sections.
