VMs: More shorthand trivia
I don't know that I mentioned this, but being late and on my mind,
ignore if I have.
The two "Chinese" symbols on folio 1r, are to be found in Bale's
book on Stenographie as standard astrological signs. The first,
Jupiter or Aries, and the second, (the bird-like creature),
astrological for "moneth" or "month. Even as artistically
rendered as they are in the VMS, they are immediately recognizable
as two astrological symbols of the same design and influence, and
by 1602 an accepted part of shorthand notation.
