Thanks for the comments re: Spa Architecture, Jorge and Nick. Still
intrigued here by the very Gothic thinnish columns.
If you mean the backdrop at the top of f84r, can I just point out that it
looks (to me) like a continuation of the stylistic device on f78r (which
may or may not be pineapple mayweed being filtered into a pool, to help
reduce period pains - it also (apparently) appears on f86v).
If you also mean the thin lines on f75v (beneath the Wolkenband). I think
that's actually a kind of mineral shower, travelling down a pipe into a
reservoir, and then tipping down over the edge onto the bathing nymphs' heads.
I still think that the two misordered bath pages (with the three connected
baths) is likely to be giving us a strong balneological hint (ie, "find an
Italian spa circa 1450 that had three connected bathing area").
Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
PS: I haven't had any luck in ferreting out a copy of "Well Washed And
Watered" from the Institute of Plumbing... perhaps I should Just Try Harder. :-)
