As usual, you think
you've got it all figured out and something pops up to turn things upside
down.
Folio 39r is a very
strange page in the herbal section. Strange because rare glyph forms only
occur occasionally, usually only one per page, and most skip a few pages.
That's why they're rare. 39v has no less than 9 rare glyph forms, all
established in earlier pages, so they're not unique. The gathering of so
many on one page is rather unique however. And the script on this page
mixes several glyph forms that usually group and cluster. This is a very
odd page indeed.
