I fully agree. But he specifically wrote in his
first article that, as soon as he saw the MS
he thought it was from Bacon, and that it was not
until some time later that he saw the letter and
found his suspicion confirmed. 

It is rather hard to believe, but even more
hard to (dis)prove :-)
And, of course, it does not really matter.
