Re: VMs: Re: The VMS "alphabet" and some other issues...

While I find some trouble with al-bahb being al-baba as well, it is
important to note that the word would not need to be in Russian or
Arabic.

For instance, Aldebaran is really from the Arabic and incorporated into
several languages as Aldebaran, Al Debaran, Aldabaram, Aldeboran,
Addebiris, Debiron, etc. Each culture took Arabic star names and made
them their own.

Personally, I am thinking that the document is in a Turkish language
(Turkmen?).

I did a search on Google for Bahb and found a few interesting hits (but
mostly jokes about Bob), and found some for "baheb", whatever that
means.

"Ansak wa aftekrak, baheb min gher amal, Ehlefli"

I will also hold back judgement until I can do more work to
prove/disprove the concept. The good news in all of this is that I am
more and more certain that the numbering scheme Robert came up with is
holding fast.

Thanks!

That was just the closest I could come from what was available in
Star Names. I didn't think it was right.

Obviously, something is still wrong with the letter values. But the
few hits are encouraging.
