VMs: Astronomical Note: Solar Eclipse

I have carefully examined the four top lines and the
three circular lines of text on f67r1, looking for a
date of 1544, but have been unsuccessful.

However, the last word in the second circular line
is EVA <oldy>, or 1583 in my number scheme.

There were two solar eclipses that year; one on June 19
which occurred in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and
one on December 14th at 48.4N, 104.1E, which is
along the Russia/Mongolia border. The nearest town
I could find was Kyzyl (a Voynich-looking name : ) ).

Osmar, would you please ask Prof. Varella to make
an eclipse path map for the latter date? Starry Night
seems to show the eclipse as total in Prague, but it's
hard to tell, really.

Robert
