VMs: Very Good News from Beinecke
I received this belated reply from Beinecke concerning my request
to publish images of the VMS. Oh happy days!
GC
Dear Mr. Claston,
I am writing in reply to your earlier email, with apologies for
the delay, in which you request permission to publish images from
the Voynich Ms.
The Beinecke Library no longer requires a patron to seek
permission from the library to publish materials for which Yale
University is not the copyright holder, nor does the Library
charge permission fees. It is the responsibility of the patron to
determine if there is a copyright holder and obtain permission
from that person or agency. You may wish to refer to the WATCH
File (Writers, Artists and Their Copyright Holders)
<http://tyler.hrc.utexas.edu/>, a database containing primarily,
but not exclusively, the names and addresses of copyright holders
or contact persons for authors and artists whose archives are
housed, in whole or in part, in libraries and archives in North
America and the United Kingdom.
For the images mentioned above Beinecke Library does ask that the
library be cited as the source for the material. Please use the
credit line: Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale
University.
Sincerely,
Stephen C. Jones
