Either that, or we have instances on a very large scale of French= Greek,
as in "ouk elabon polin, alla gar elpis ephe kaka" and Italian = Latin as
in "i vitelli dei romani sono belli".
If that is the case, I suspect that the author of the VMs is someone like
Victor Hugo, who managed these two lines:
Gal, amant de la reine, alla, tour magnanime,
Gallamment de l'arène à la Tour Magne à Nîmes
