VMs: entropy, ZIP, languages and La Sapienza

While trying to find more on entropy etc., I found
this apparently interesting information on a language
identifying program:

The claim that it can identify a language on the basis
of a 20 characters sample makes me a bit suspicious - but
on the other hand the original research was published
in "Physical Review Letters". There is a link to full text
at the bottom of the second document above - but for
