That would confuse me too!
Do a google search for "WinRAR". It's a Russian unarchiver for
Win9x (and I suppose, Win-later), that can not only unpack a
whole host of archives, including .cab and .tar, but also
run executables directly from the archive. For instance,
if a zip file contains setup.exe, you just click on "setup.exe"
and WinRAR executes it, and... it works (oh, wonder of wonders,
I'm so used to nothing, or very little, working). If the
archive contains a text file, and you click on its name,
WinRAR displays it (I checked that it worked on the 1998
mail archive). So go and get it!
