I agree this was added later. But if one were to find out who did it
it might help in dating the manuscript.

Whatever it is (and I think it is a later addition, like the month names in the "zodiac") it is unlikely to provide a key. Very unlikely. At best, it might be a note made by someone trying to decipher the VMS.
