Re: VMs: 2012
Most computers count the number of days, minutes or seconds since a starting point as a basis for their calendars. I assume your chip is an Intel. In January 1971 Intel created it's second run of 4004 CPUs. Hence the start date of 1/1/1971.
Trivia. Gotta love it. Try to remember to put the trash out on Friday am though....

Hello :-)
Speaking of "dates", wow, did I go backwards/or/Fowards in the
space-time-continume here?? I see "Wed, 31 Dec 1969" (BELOW on your
sent header) and my system (currently) reads "Thur, June 05 2003"
Do I "reset the clock", or go with this Time:Flow too?? (smiles)
Best to you & yours

steve (Folded & FLIPped _enough_ already - thx :-) ekwall
PS. RESETing (here) for fun, I cannot go BACK more than 1.1.71

I can't help finding it quite pleasant to track and enjoy the evolution
of this list over the years.
Every day, with so many new and valuable participants, the experience
becomes richer and the blanks are more likely to be filled in less
time. Between the many interesting exchanges, our drawbacks and big
hits, it's comforting to know that, in a way, we VMS-listfellows
continue to celebrate the old spirit of Exploration in mankind, sharing
these odd joys and pains and visions - not unlike those familiar names
did in the days of Rudolph II or Athanasius Kircher.
Perhaps by 2012, a nice history of the achievements made here
can be offered to the public in a brief summary, and a toast for
friendship between strangers, for the love of all that strange and
fascinating science inspired by the VMS, may be in order.
