easy enough to do -- get some handwritten text in a language one
doesn't know, in an alphabet one doesn't know.  Say, a manuscript in
classical Mongolian, or something written in modern cursive Hebrew,
or perhaps in Malayalam, or someone's ms notes in Korean (class
notes would be good!).  Transcribe, encode, and test the results
... since at least in these cases there is something to test the
results against.
