True - though remember that Trithemius found an "Armenian psalter" in Mainz
(IIRC), which was actually written in Tironian notes: so, apart from a few
morphological fossils (like p-bar, ampersand, etc) that remained in use,
almost everyone had forgotten about the vast bulk of Tironian notae by
(say) 1500 or so.

As much as I hate the iconic world of modern kids emails ("B4 U go to the
mall..") I have to admit that this is an ancient practice. Of course
modern people don't have to write by hand on expensive paper with
expensive ink and use a quill...
...we use expensive mobile phones and four less fingers instead. :-)
