RE: VMs: Buying Research Pages

Hi GC,

Steve, sorry to be so late in replying to this, but I was hoping to get a
response to the question of negative cataloguing from Beinecke. No such
luck as yet.

The short of it is, that I do not have to set this up. All you need do is
e-mail Beinecke with a request for color slides or transparencies of those
specific folios, and they will email you back with an order no. You can
then attach your credit card info. They will come back with either a "we
have that one", or "sorry, but that one is not available as a color
transparency" type thing.

I'm certain that if someone with a Phd or other major title who would ask
them to provide a catalogue of all images available in color slide or
transparency, we'd get a better response, as this would probably be
considered more "active research" than "curious inquiry". Until then, we'll
have to use the "hit and miss" method, I guess. Any other suggestions?

I've been meaning to email the curator in charge of the VMS at the Beinecke for a good while about a load of different things, so I'll use this as an excuse to kick me into action. :-)

I should perhaps warn that the last time I contacted them about photonegatives etc, the person responsible for them had just left their post, and the person who had been asked to take over the reins seemed less than comfortable with the idea, which might have led to some of the problems we've run into over the last year or so - hopefully this has been resolved now. :-o

Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
