That sounds like the BBC documentary (originally on the digital
channel BBC3, it was recently shown on a terrestrial BBC channel).
They showed the VMS to London herbalists, who thought they recognised
some of the plants. They suggested that the various diagrams of women
in conjunction with plants might indicate that they were
gaenycological remedies of some sort. They also suggested that the
strange perspective of some of the plants (with roots far too massive
for the leaves, etc) could be a mnemonic device, reminding the
nerbalist which part of the plant was relevant. For example, oversized
roots means "use the roots".
