Not to my knowledge.  Strong's primary source for Trithemius was Gustavus
Selenus.  I know he had taken notes from copies of Trithemius' books in
libraries, but I never heard that he had a microfilm copy or anything of
that nature.

The passages that apparently interested Strong were those relating to early
use of polyalphabetics, especially suggestions that one could change the
alphabet after every word, every two or three letters, or "randomly".  At
about the time the VMS was written, this was the standing advice to users of
such systems.  I think what he was pointing to is that the cipher was not
something new to the time period, but an odd use of an existing method of
encipherment.
