Great work. I never knew anyone was transcribing them.

Now let me throw a little gasoline on the fire... What do you think of
the late (and great IMHO) Barry Fell's decipherment of the Rongos? I
have a videotape of him explaining that they record the history of Rapa
Nui (one was the discovery of the island by King Hotu Motua?) in the
pan-Polynesian logograms. The language itself is typical Moari (culled
from old dictionaries from New Zealand to Easter I.) but using nonsense
rhymes hiding (especially from the women) the true words underneath.
Like in English "Hive bean walking under reel rod / Holy Revlon dye..."
A line from my college linguist professor Bill Miller for "I've been
working on the railroad / All the livelong day..." Fell mentions
Gaugin's painting "Merahi metua no Teha'amana = Ancestors of Teha'amana"

of his Tahitian wife Mette and the glyphs behind her that actually
translate into the names of a few of her ancestors!

If you want more (non-10yr-rusty) specifics I can watch the tape again
