RE: VMs: Image Source, Accuracy of Transcriptions
Jeff,
I find it interesting how you react to each sentence and then post, without
reading the original post in its entirety and then formulating a response.
My teenage daughter used to do this, and when daddy is taken out of context,
he can be demonstrated to be quite the fool. I like that. Both you and her
have a promising career in politics, where spin is everything, and truth is
what you make it.
In answer to this question
> OK so here is a direct question. Can you read the Voynich Manuscript?
I have at present read full pages, 34 to be exact. I had a problem for some
time in only being able to read initial paragraphs, but with my new
transcriptional approach and a piece of knowledge only recently gained from
statistics, I managed to remove the road blocks that hindered me in the
past. You may notice that my transcription focuses on the herbal section,
primarily the A pages. I have only recently begun an effort to read A
pages, and I can say that they are not precisely the same system as used in
B pages. I first read all the pages contained in the same quire as 78r,
which is one of the reasons I've tried to push for the examination of the
VMS by bifolios rather than their presented order. Things change, and it is
best to examine elements in their proper order.
Your next question
> Go on then! Put your money where your mouth is and solve it!
Are you placing a wager? Up to now I thought the only reward was a pizza.
If you were to offer a large wager, I might be convinced to allow a third
party to examine the evidence and pass judgment based on the mathematical
evidence at hand. Mind you, I would not allow you or the list access to the
information, only the judge, who would be bound by the strictest of
confidence, and you would have to abide by that person's decision when
forfeiting your wager. The list would know only whether you won or lost
your gambit, and I assure you I will be the more gainful in this pursuit.
If you're interested in pursuing this, contact me in private and we will
determine the arrangements suitable to both of us.
What I'd like to see from you Jeff, is some statement of background, and
some idea on your take of what you see in the VMS. So far you haven't
offered enough views and opinions to allow others to comment on your
efforts. Some idea of who you are and where you're coming from is helpful,
and it doesn't hurt to slow down once in awhile and read an entire post
before you react.
> Get well soon and don't stay away too long. :-)
Thank you, Jeff. I will attempt to do just that.
