This is a nice little paper by Karen Hawkwood, relying on (at the risk of 
occasionally sounding like) Nancy Siraisi's excellent book "Medieval and 
Early Renaissance Medicine".

Probably most interesting here is that Hawkwood has included a scan of the 
physician's folding calender from p.33 of Siraisi (it's Wellcome Institute 
MS 40, a. 1463), which I've previously described on-list. If you want to 
know what one of these looks like, have a look! :-)
