VMs: RE: A big shock
I don't think Glen has left the list, nor do I think Glen would say
that he has 'found the answer' to the VMS either. He has an angle that he
believes in and no doubt is trying to ensure he has conclusive evidence that
he's on the right track.
What may be misconstrued as negative feedback is often the voiced
frustration with 'I have stumbled on the answer' type of remarks that offer
absolutely no indication of conclusive evidence except in the minds of those
who have thus far 'solved' the VMS.
Glen had his occasional rants as well as any of the rest of us - often
aimed at the fact that nobody seems to get it - when it is so clear. Most of
us
believe our minds are somewhat open to various attacks on the VMS, although
deep
down we all have our bias. This just means that if somebody does provide
something
truly interesting or at the very least intriguing to look at as a 'what-if',
we'll
usually give it a once over -- and ask some hard questions that should be
taken as
'did you consider this...' brainstorming rather than taken as negative
feedback.
I've seen a lot of nicely worded posts sent in response to your emails that
offered questions, guidance (from the brainstorming perspective and perhaps
from
the underlying bias of the author), comments, and criticisms which should be
taken as
constructive even if they are worded poorly.
I also don't see what you're big shock is about. You are not the second
person
to have stumbled on the answer to the VMS. You are about the fourth or
fifth - and
so far nobody else has seen any evidence that any solution has been correct.

I have something to say that might surprise everyone on this list to say the
least. I am the second person to have stumbled on the answer to the VMS. I
discovered tonight what he did before he left the list. And knowing how much
negative feedback there is here you can't blame him. I remember he said
something interesting in one of his last posts that I didn't pay much
attention to at the time. Now I have stumbled on the same thing he did.
Who was this person?
Glen Claston!
Look back through your emails! He said he could only decrypt the initial
lines at first. Well you CAN only decrypt the initial lines if you don't
know the missing link. The table on the george boole fanclub is one half of
the link!
