AIUI, the Priory of Sion was little more than a piece of modern fantasist 
mythmaking by Pierre Plantard. Of course, "it would be nice if it were 
true" (but it's almost certainly not). For just about the last word on 
everything PS-related, you might check out:-

Even if it's built on sand, "The Da Vinci Code" is still a good 
page-turning yarn, nonetheless. :-)
