Nothing was determined. It appears to the me that the drawings were 
not intended as art or that art was secondary to other 
considerations. Perhaps Maurizio Gavioli will comment on that in 
time.  If it was done for a provincial physician it looks like 
overkill on content and short on blood and urine. Why else would it 
be saddlebag-sized?  I do not know; I am guessing it might have been 
because of cost and/or availability of vellum. Why 3001? I was just 
estimating that 3,000 other speculations have gone before this one.
