As far as I can tell, the advantage for a left hander writing right to left 
is that what is written can be seen (not hidden by the writing implement) as 
it is being written. This, of course, would also be true for a write hander 
writing left to right; however, after many years of practice this becomes a 
mute point since the writer no longer needs to actually be looking closely 
at what is being written, unless an attempt at artistic expression is 
involved. I suspect that most writers in the Arabic world are right handed 
as well.

As an interesting side note, I find, as an adult, that any new task that I 
start with my right hand is easily learned. For example, I "drive" my 
computer mouse and car primarily with my right hand.
