That would be a loss to the list. I have only a few days more on the
list than you and I have reached that point several times. In working
with transcriptions I feel as if I have been chasing mirages in a
fractal. I can see that I am unlikely to contribute anything but I
have many ideas I want to pursue for my own satisfaction. I just want
to learn more about the monster. Did Russia have a 32 character
alphabet in the 15th century? Is an ambiguous cipher for the VMS
untenable? Did the author modify Napier's bones in the 17th century?
No, too laborious. On and on. Maybe I have a foot in the last stage
before I get through the first (newcomer) stages. I have been at it
too steadily (another phase?) trying to catch up. A respite might
help my perspective.
