Hello all on the list. I'm Pam
and have been lurking for some time waiting to see if I can offer anything
that might be remotely useful. I
have no background in code breaking, languages, or the like, but am
fascinated by this Voynich manuscript.
I just recently picked up a book entitled
"The Secrets of Nostradamus" by David Ovason. In this book,
Ovason discusses something called the
"Green Language". Has anyone on the list heard of this?
It would
appear this arcane language has been
around a very long time and was used by those initiated into the
sciences of alchemy, astrology, etc.
For instance, linguistic interchange is discussed "wherein letters
and
words are substituted for one another
by changing the orders of predetermined key words."
The purpose of the green language is
to obscure or hide the intentions of the writer from the general
reader. By this method, one can
use terms or words that have 2, 3 or more levels of meaning. This
green language "....is expressly
used to delude, elucidate and condense."
So, my thought is, if the manuscript
is not only written in several different languages as has been
suggested, but also words and/or letters
have been mixed around and substituted, it seems trying to
find the key would be that much more
difficult.
