Let Jeff know that I look forward to his return as well.  Collaboration -
the concept of pooling one's intelligent resources, can only happen when we
all speak the same "language" and are all on the same track.  The various
transcription alphabets themselves present barriers to conceptual
collaboration, but I'm trying to find a way of working around that.  Plant
drawings are works of art, but that's not the primary concern.  What's
important is what constitutes an individual glyph, and without that
agreement there can be no collaboration.

We need to move forward on this, and with the new images we are no longer
tied down by poor representation.  Even now there will be more naysayers
than doers, but this is important and must be done.  All variants must be
properly recorded - there's a shorthand "language" here that must be
understood.
