VMs: Back to Wilfrid M. Voynich and Alchabitius
Dear all,
Not convinced that this is important but a bit further with the subject:
1/ I have a book the title of which in French is Nostradamus ou le savoir transmis ( The knowledge - or wisdom - transmitted, by Michel Chomarat, Lyon, 1997 ). In this booklet you find a provisonal catalogue of the library of Michel Nostradamus. The N°6 of the library is the Preclarum Summi in Astrorum Scientia Principis Alchabitij Opus. The title page is copied with both written ex libris of Michel and his son César Nostradamus. This page has of course the same illustration almost identical to Voynich catalogues cover pages as it appears in his N°31 I already sent.
2/ I write almost principally because in the Alchabitius image you have the letters MS to be read, likely the initial letters of the printer s name ( Melchior Sessam, Venice, 18 VI 1521 ) and for obvious reasons they have been changed by Voynich into WM. Voynich too added a V at the bottom of the image.
3/ On January 23, 1929 Voynich wrote a letter to Dr Thomas Ollive Mabott about a Slavonic xylographic fragment of mutual interest. At the top of the letter you can find the same image as on the front covers of Voynich catalogues; thus this was really IMO Voynich s personal piece of heraldry.
Cheers
Jean
