VMs: Re: Re: Question about VMS and one o.o.t.

Thank you GC and Luiz for your answers!

I see that I should have checked out the "facts" in the article I read about VMs history :-)

I have now started to do some tests with the numbers, although the results so far don't show anything exept my own numbering system - but I kind of expected that :-)) so I'll keep experimenting...

With best regards,
Marianna

hello,

You may be thinking of Robert Brumbaugh's decipherment.  I'm uncertain about Feely, but I can tell you for a fact that Dr. Leonnel C. Strong did not base his decipherment on roman numbers.  Sorry.

Subject: VMs: Question about VMS and one o.o.t.

Hello All,

I would very much like to know about the Feely and Strong's attempt to decode VMS using roman numbers, could any of you give me an example on the method they used? I'm planning some tests based on the number code-assumption, and would like to know about the failed attempts before I start writing my code... :)

I also have an out-of-topic question to cryptographers about the so-called 'Dorabella cipher' (also on the list of uncracked ciphers that Barbara posted some time ago): is it possible to have a look on the attempts others have made in cracking it, to find out at what point they had to give up?

Best regards,
Marianna
