Re: VMs: Gordon Rugg in Scientific American

Hello,

let me compare the situation using computer lingo. Normal operation is "data in - data out" - or in the case of wrong input, "garbage in - garbage out". In the case of program malfunction, we get "data in - garbage out". When we get such situation we double check the input and the program as well. Mr. Rugg of course cannot do that - he does not know the real input nor the program. He admits he tried his program, but failed to get some reasonable inpout, so he smartly shifts his attention and blames the faulty input, hoping we didn't notice :-). By shiftng into "garbage in - garbage out" mode, he hopes to perform even bigger "miracle" than Kelly, when he changed lead into gold :-)
