VMs: RE: Search for missing folios, quires et al.

Fragments and single vellum sheets exist... however, rooting through the
quantity that
'probably' exists could be a rather onerous task; but one worth the effort
IF you could find say folios
74/75 to give a complete picture of the zodiac section, or the missing
quires which may be
large foldouts like the Rosettes page... reason being only two folio numbers
for the whole
quire 16 (91/92) and quire 18 (97/98).

I know this might seem shockingly obvious, but has anyone ever done any
detective work and attempted to find the missing folios? I know it is a
long shot in the dark, but the potential benefit could be tremendous.
I'm not an expert in this sort of research, so I don't know if it is
common for library collections to catalog or collect fragments of
manuscripts. Is it possible that a folio or two, or an entire quire is
buried in a library somewhere? Italy, perhaps? Prague?

Ken
