VMs: RE: Re: Re: Inks and retouching

	GC,

I'd disagree with the rationalization you've given to Jeff's statement as
well as Jeff's original statement. Any open-minded discussions between a
large group of individuals is going to result in some blunt and pointed
remarks if an idea is tossed about and agitated without any STRONG backing
(funny, eh).

Yes, we all have different perspectives of what an image might represent,
but none of us can truly say for sure anyone else is completely out to
lunch - well, we can say it and if the person is unable to continue to
function because somebody or a group of folk have pummelled him with Timbits
(Donut holes from Tim Horton's chain), then it is not a form of censorship
on the part of the group - but on the individual himself for not
persevering.

Jeff continually suggests very vague concepts like... "The answer is so
obvious, GC is right and so is Nick, and if they only could see what they
have, we'd be able to read the VMS" - Not verbatim, but close enough. When
Jeff posted a large number of 'what does this look like' type of complex
script generated voynich garble, few of us offered comments because it
didn't exactly express itself well enough. When I started on this list, I
did a lot of posts with a variety of substitution schemes including syllabic
and tonal sets and was sure I was getting somewhere until I hit a brick wall
in my own theories - and not because anyone on the list (I particularly
remember Jacques Guy being rather harsh in the first few posts, but his
criticism was well intentioned and well-founded).

Raymen and you both have presented some interesting views that received a
lot of responses. You have to admit that even your own thinking on the
STRONG solution has evolved over the years and whether you like it or not,
it has evolved because of the discussion offered by the group.

We all get a little frustrated when it seems nobody is listening, or when
people respond without really seeing the same thing we see.

>>>It's not 'unlikely' that certain ideas have been deliberately overlooked
or
sidelined, it's a fact.

This is unjustified. No idea has been deliberately overlooked - yes, some
have been sidelined - Sorry to bring it up again - John Stojko's solution
for example.

I don't think any of us are innocent of having an opinion on just about
everything, but that does not amount to any form of censorship.

	John.
