Re: VMs: Re: What do you think about Eight?
Hi, Rene
The twelve signs have assigned compass directions, so
a chart devised with the purpose of emphasizing that
fact seems, forgive me, a little redundant. There are
so many ways to express direction using astrology!
Here are the directions of the signs:
Aries: East
Taurus: South
Gemini: West
Cancer: North
Leo: East
Virgo: South
Libra: West
Scorpio: North
Sagittarius: East
Capricorn: South
Aquarius: West
Pisces: North
In addition, the chart wheel itself is assigned
directions: The ascendant on the far left (9:00)
position is the East, the descendant opposite it is
the West, the midheaven (at 12:00) is the South, and
the nadir (6:00) is the North. To see what direction
the stars indicate, look at your significator (one of
the planets, depending on your purpose) and see which
house it occupies on the chart. If it is in the:
First house, East
Second House, East Northeast
Third House, Northeast
Fourth House, North
Fifth House, Northwest
Sixth house, West Northwest
Seventh House, West
Eighth House, Southwest
Ninth House, Southwest
Tenth House, South
Eleventh House, Southeast
Twelfth House, East Southeast
If you wanted to express one of the directions
(together with a lot of other information) in a
compact and highly inaccessible, therefore secretive
way, you could just name the date, place, and time the
heavens indicated the direction (with other
information) of your choice. The reader would have to
erect a chart to find the intended information.
A picture is worth a thousand words. . . an
astrological figure conveys many times that!
These don't seem to be astrological charts to me, and
astrological charts can convey a lot more information
in much less space than the VMs chart illustrations
take up. That's why I tend to lean in the direction
of numerology rather than a tie-in to astrology to
explain the emphasis on the number eight.
The 12-to-8 conversion chart does offer the potential
of bringing the focus of the matter back to astrology,
however, elucidating how to reconcile the two systems
and perhaps indicating an application to times of
year.
So I wonder what the point would be of adding to a
fairly comprehensive system (astrology) this method of
describing compass directions. Have you formed any
theories?
Warmly,
Pam
