Exactly. This point is easily overlooked.
Rugg's method only makes sense if different grilles
are used with the same tables. If not, the whole
method reduces to a trivial situation, where it
does not matter what is the shape of the grille,
whether it has three holes or only one, and how
the VMs words are split up (if at all).

Trying to find these stretches would be the key
question. I am as convinced as I ever was that
they aren't there to be found in the Voynich MS.
