Ignoring the high mountains which are not used for agriculture at all,
only sheep and deer, the growing conditions in Scotland vary enormously
from the East where winter conditions can be bitter indeed for months on
end, to the West Coast, where the influence of the Gulf Stream permits
several sub-tropical gardens to flourish.
