Seeing a kind of regularity here (6-year intervals of eclipses with 12-year
pauses), I'd assume it has to do with the undulations of the lunar orbit.
Deducing from there, I guess Robert has singled out the intervals where
eclipses occur at all.
Unfortunately, having some 30 years with eclipses as opposed to 70 without
them, this is probably not really helping in pinning down the date of origin of
the VM.
